Two Men Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver

On February 1, 2010 at approximately 10:45p.m, a woman with a blood alcohol level about twice the legal limit struck two men who were parked on the side of the street.  The accident happened between Riggs Road and Forest Dale Drive in Adelphi, Maryland.  The two men were involved in a small rear ended accident.  They were standing between the two vehicles exchanging insurance information, when the woman sideswiped one vehicle and rear ended the other.  The two men died almost instantly at the scene.

Investigation revealed that the woman had multiple DUI convictions and was driving on a suspended license.  Vehicle manslaughter and DUI charges are pending against her. 

The two victim's families may file a claim on the woman's insurance company.  Once a claim is set up and investigating is complete, they will be compensated for the damages of the vehicles involved.  Also, they maybe eligible for Accidental Death benefit.  Typically the maximum payout for this benefit is $5,000.00.
